I was setting up for a Free the Slaves event at the Hotel Cafe when I heard this voice coming from the main room. It stopped me in my tracks. I was waiting outside when people were filing in for his show and I could tell by the “list” it was a bunch of big wigs in the music business and I get why.
If it’s not too late, join me in my holiday shopping commitment:
Buy something that gives back or something that’s local. My job is to spread awareness on modern day slavery so I’d be doing my passion a disservice if I didn’t speak up about the marketing hole that is Christmas.
Top Five Regrets of the Dying
by: Bronnie Ware
For many years I worked in palliative care. My patients were those who had gone home to die. Some incredibly special times were shared. I was with them for the last three to twelve weeks of their lives. People grow a lot when they are faced with their own mortality. I learnt never to underestimate someone’s capacity for growth.

I got a few muumuus when I was in India and lived in them when I was in Hawaii, but it’s not often a muumuu seems fitting (literally) in Los Angeles. In a world of short skirts and skinny jeans, putting on a box shaped dress can feel like I’m hiding something. But the only thing being hidden is how AWESOME muumuus are!!!! There is nothing more comfortable, so who cares what it looks like?
It all started when I went for a sunset surf after work with some friends. I had just finished a “long, hard” day of work, one of those days when I could have easily talked myself out of doing anything because I had already done “enough”.
If I don’t have my cell phone on me, it can only mean 1 of 3 things:
I lost it.
