Kind of like living together, you never truly know the ins and outs of your lover till you have traveled together. Being that travel is one of my favorite things to do this often occurs early on in my more serious relationships. My boyfriend Dan and I took a 3 month trip around the world last summer. We in turn had some of the best AND worst times of our relationship. Here are a few things I learned from that and other trips with lovers:
Oh the California Coastline, it’s what dreams are made of. Sometimes I catch myself driving to Malibu, keeping an eye out for dolphins, with the wind in my hair, and the Beach Boys on Pandora. It’s so magnificently cliché.
I am a singer from Los Angeles and doing my best to take advantage of my lack of true life responsibilities in my 20’s. In the past 5 years, I have checked many things off my “bucket list” ranging from trips to Johannesburg and Paris, to Sky Diving and singing Chumbawumba at Karaoke. I began a tradition of adventure September 2 years ago where I do something new every day. Eat something new every meal. This september, I went the whole month without speaking… that was an adventure. But this Christmas, on a last minute whim, I was lucky enough to check a BIG one off. One that I can only assume is on most people’s list.

Baby it’s cold outside! Not exactly my favorite weather, I will take a beach over snowy mountains any day. Sometimes though we cannot travel or it’s just too cold/wet to go out and play. We call these opportunities “Staycations”. Grab your loved ones and have a special day where you do something new and maybe a little “weird”. Here are some Staycation Holiday ideas to keep you cozy and warm:
Writing this from a marshmallow cloud-like bed at the Four Seasons, Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills… Tawney is snoozing in hers beside me. I woke up with a blissful sigh and flipped open my little macbook air, typing the words “i love hotel beds” before my eyes were completely open. There is nothing like climbing into brand new, precisely tucked in, crisp but soft white sheets and laying down on perfect pillows, nuzzling under a fluffy duvet and knowing that you don’t have to make the bed in the morning!
I spent three months in Europe last summer. As a lover of all things art, architecture, and history, my romp through the most famous cities in Europe had me living the fullest life I had ever lived. Everyday was a grand adventure – an exciting opportunity to taste an exotic food, to be overwhelmed by ancient cathedrals, to poke around foreign book shops, to climb foggy hillsides. Waking up wasn’t a chore and I fell asleep each night with the day’s memories floating around in my head.
